Hello, we are the Brawners! My name is Anna and my husband is Randall. Over the past 3 years, my husband and I have been trying for a child, with little success. In May of 2021, I had what is called a chemical pregnancy that caused an Early miscarriage. Because of this, I sought medical attention and advice for planning for children. Through this, I discovered that I have a condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) that can cause a slew of medical problems, one being infertility. We thought this was the cause of our infertility issues. However, little did we know, this was just the start of our journey. Through extensive testing and procedures, we discovered my husband has a vascular condition called a varicocele. A varicocele occurs when blood pools in the veins rather than circulating efficiently out of the scrotum. Because of this, it causes an “unfriendly” environment for sperm to live. Bottom line, we have 2 options. One is bypassing this complication by using IVF (In vitro fertilization), a complicated set of steps to getting pregnant through medical help. The other option would be surgery to correct this issue with the hope that we would be able to conceive naturally following that. However, that still may not fully solve the problem and could lead to the need for IVF anyway. Either route we choose, we have a long and expensive journey ahead of us. The dream of raising a beautiful child together may be further away than we thought, but we won’t give up hope yet! We need as much support as possible right now, in any way that you can offer it.
